The original of the real-time strategy (RTS) Command & Conquer series was released worldwide by Westwood Studios back in mid-late 1995. The game plot is set sometime in the near future where the Earth becomes contaminated by a mysterious substance known as Tiberium. A global war ensues between the UN-formed Global Defense Initiative to contain it and the cult quasi-state revolutionary Brotherhood of Nod, led by the enigmatic Kane, which seeks to harness it.
RED ALERT
After the highly successful original, it was followed by Command & Conquer: Red Alert in 1996 which is set in an alternate universe where the Soviet Union wages war with the Allies. Developed as the prequel to the original, the Red Alert series was spun off into a separate, lighthearted and comic series, while the original game and its sequels became known as the "Tiberium" series, retaining its science fiction and serious tone.
ORCS & HUMANS
Having a spectacular $11+ billion in total gross, the name is a symbol of the highest gross earning video game franchise ever. This being the original of its RTS was released back in late 1994 and start the series off with the focus on the human nations that make up the Eastern Kingdoms, and the Orcish Horde, which arrived in Azeroth via a dark portal, beginning the great wars.
TIDES OF DARKNESS
Met with all positive reviews and won most of the major PC gaming awards in 1996. The success of Warcraft franchise continued on the second sequel clocking global sales above 3 million units by 2001, and roughly two-thirds were sold in the United States. The game strongly influenced the company's next successful RTS games.
